Choosing

What the colour names do not tell you

The names come from the manufacturer and they are not always a good description of the board. Three greys sound interchangeable and are not.

Silver Birch is the darkest

It sounds like the palest of the three greys. It is the deepest. If you want a dark deck, this is the one.

Vintage Brown is not brown

It reads as a light warm greige, the lightest board in the range, and the coolest underfoot.

Smokey against Slate

Both mid greys. Smokey runs cooler, Slate is a touch warmer. Side by side the difference is obvious.

Teak is the safe one

Warm mid-brown, closest to what people picture when they say timber deck. Most Perth jobs land here.

Do not choose from a screen. Both showrooms have every board on the floor.

Working it out

How many boards do I need?

Each board is 5400 mm long and 135 mm wide. With the 5 mm gap the clips set, one board covers a strip 140 mm wide, so roughly 0.75 m² per board, or 1.3 boards per square metre before cuts. Add 5 to 10 per cent for anything that is not a clean rectangle, and allow separately for the sub-frame, fascia and delivery.

Send us the dimensions and we will do the take-off properly. That part is free.

The paperwork

Warranty and delivery, in plain words

25-year product warranty

On the solid Dura boards. Covers the original purchaser only and is not transferable if you sell the house.

6-month workmanship warranty

On decks we install. Separate from the product warranty, they are two different things.

14 days to tell us

If something is wrong it needs to be in writing within 14 days of you noticing it.

1–3 business days

Delivery within 50 km of the Perth CBD once payment clears. Supply-only orders are dropped to the driveway.

Short answers

Before you order

Can I buy just the boards and lay it myself?

Yes. Everything on this page is supply-only if you want it that way. Order the boards, the clips and the screws together, because the clips are the part people forget.

What is the difference between Dura and Dura-Eco?

Dura is solid and fully capped, with the 25-year product warranty. Dura-Eco is hollow, so it is lighter to handle and easier on the budget, and it is reversible with Silver Birch on one face and Teak on the other. It does not carry the same warranty.

How many boards do I need?

Each board covers a strip 140 mm wide once the clips set the 5 mm gap, so roughly 0.75 square metres per board, or 1.3 boards per square metre. Add 5 to 10 per cent for cuts on anything that is not a clean rectangle.

Do I need pedestals?

Only if you are decking over concrete or pavers. On a normal sub-frame you do not. They are useful when you need to level out a fall or keep the deck flush with an existing threshold.

Does composite decking get hot?

Darker boards absorb more heat, the same as any dark surface. If the deck is in full afternoon sun and gets walked on barefoot, the lighter colours are the easier choice.

Do you deliver outside Perth metro?

Standard delivery covers 50 km from the CBD and takes one to three business days once payment clears. Further out, tell us where and we will price the freight.

Can I see the boards before I buy?

Yes. Every colour is on the floor at both showrooms, Malaga and Jandakot, and you are welcome without an appointment.
