Jay’s Synthetic Grass is a West Australian family business. We began in 2014 with one van and one roll of turf — and we still run every job the way you’d run one in your own yard.
What began as one person laying turf in a back yard has grown into one of Perth’s established names in outdoor transformations. Today we supply and install artificial grass, composite decking, rubber softfall and playground equipment for homes, schools, early learning centres and commercial sites right across the metro area.
We’ve come a long way, but we haven’t forgotten where we started. That beginning is why we quote honestly, why we still answer the phone after the job is finished, and why a small courtyard gets the same base preparation as a childcare centre.
Everything we put down is supplied, installed and warranted by us — one contractor, start to finish. If something needs looking at in year three, you’re calling the same company that laid it.
Jay’s Synthetic Grass starts in Perth with a single work vehicle, laying artificial grass for family, friends and whoever they told. Word of mouth did the marketing then — and to a large extent it still does.
Two years in, we opened our first showroom in Malaga. Photographs only get you so far with turf: people wanted to stand on it, feel the pile between their fingers and put two colours side by side in daylight. So we gave them somewhere to do that — and a warehouse behind it to hold stock.
Malaga is a long drive from the southern suburbs, and we were asking people to make it just to feel a sample. So in 2018 we opened a second showroom in Jandakot with the full range, so nobody has to cross the city to compare two greens.
Customers who wanted a lawn kept asking who’d do the deck off the back door. Rather than hand that to someone else and hope the levels lined up, we took it on — composite decking, supplied and installed by us, with the subframe included in the price.
Schools and early learning centres were asking for the whole play area, not just the grass. We added playground equipment and rubber softfall so the surface and the structure could be quoted, installed and signed off as one job.
A decade on, the grass stock still sits in our own Malaga warehouse — which is why most jobs don’t wait on a shipping container — and the whole range is quoted, installed and warranted by the one company. Our work is under the feet of families in Perth back yards, and of visitors at Curtin University, Rottnest Island, Claremont Football Club and Warwick Grove.

We take the time to understand the space before we quote. A small back yard refresh and a large playground install get the same site visit, the same base preparation and the same person you can ring afterwards.
No passing the buck, no generic answers. We supplied it, we installed it, we warrant it.
Artificial grass carries a 10-year warranty. Composite decking boards carry a 25-year product warranty.
What’s covered, the notice period and the proof of purchase we need are all set out in the written warranty document you receive at handover. Ask us for a copy before you buy — we’d rather you read it first than find out later.
Whichever product it is, it’s supplied, installed and warranted by us. If something needs looking at, you ring the company whose name is on the invoice.

We average around 100 sq.m of grass laid a day, so a typical 100 sq.m back yard is about two days on site. Decking and playground work is quoted with its own timeframe.
At either showroom. Malaga (2/9 Carson Rd) is open Monday to Friday 7:30am–4:00pm and Saturday mornings; Jandakot (Unit 1/68 Solomon Rd) is open Monday to Friday 9:00am–4:30pm. Stand on the grass, bend a decking board, and take samples home to look at in your own light.
