A shade-covered play area with soft fall surfacing, a timber pirate ship play structure and natural play elements.
The project
Panda Early Learning Centre in Joondanna asked Jay’s Playground Solutions for an outdoor area the children could still use through the middle of the day in summer. Shade sails cover the play space end to end, and soft fall surfacing runs beneath the equipment.
A timber pirate ship play structure anchors one end of the yard, with natural play elements, a sand zone and planting filling the space around it. Spreading the activities out gives the children several things to do at once, rather than one queue at one piece of equipment.
The materials were chosen to be hard-wearing and low-maintenance: soft fall surfacing that stays compliant under daily use, and finishes that hold their colour through Perth sun.
