The rate moves with the range you pick, how much preparation the site needs and how cut up the area is, because offcuts and joins cost time. Small courtyards cost more per square metre than open back yards, since the set-up is the same either way.

It is fixed. We measure the area on site, look at the base and the falls, and write the quote against what we found. The only time a price changes is if you change the scope, or if something is discovered under the surface that nobody could see at the measure, and we would talk to you before doing anything about it.

No. The measure is free right across the Perth metro area. You get a written quote after it, not a verbal number on the day.

Yes. You can buy any of our ranges by the metre from the artificial grass shop, along with the pegs, joining tape, glue and infill you need to lay it. If you are in the trade, ask about a trade account.

Three things decide it: how much use the area gets, how much sun it gets, and how soft you want it underfoot. A back lawn that children and a dog use daily wants a different pile to a display strip beside a driveway. The range guide walks through it, and the quickest answer is to stand on the samples.

Yes, and we recommend it. Colour photographs on a screen are not reliable. You can order a sample pack or come and look at the full rolls at either showroom.

The cheap product does. What gives it away is a single flat colour, a pile that all leans the same way, and a shine under direct sun. The ranges we sell use several shades of green with a brown thatch layer underneath, and a matt finish, which is what stops it reading as plastic from the kerb.

UV stability is the single biggest difference between cheap and good turf here, and it is what our warranty covers. Any turf will soften in tone over many years of full Perth sun. What you should not accept is patchy or streaky fading within the warranty period.

We lay around 100 square metres a day, so a typical 100 square metre back yard is about two days on site. Most of that is the base. The turf itself goes down quickly once the ground underneath is right.

A compacted base, and which base we use depends on the site. We work with five different base build-ups depending on drainage, traffic and whether the area sits over soil, sand, concrete or a suspended slab. The base is what decides whether the lawn is still flat in five years, so it is not the place to save money.

Yes. Excavation, removal and disposal of the existing lawn or paving is part of an installed quote unless you have asked us to leave it. We take the spoil away with us.

The turf itself is permeable, so water passes straight through it. What matters is where the water goes after that. On a normal sandy Perth block it soaks away. Over concrete, in a courtyard or on a rooftop we build falls and drainage into the base so it does not pool.

Yes. Curved edges, tree surrounds and pool coping are normal work. They take longer than a rectangle, which is why an area with a lot of shaping costs more per square metre than an open one.

Yes, all year. Heavy rain can hold up the excavation and base work because we cannot compact saturated ground properly, so a wet week can move a start date. We would rather move it than lay over a base that is not right.

Urine drains straight through the backing, so it does not sit on the surface. For smell, we use Aguachill Sand as the infill and Jay Fresh as a treatment. Together they handle the odour that untreated infill can hold onto in summer.

Grass on its own is not a fall surface. Under equipment you need soft fall rubber or a shockpad underneath, at a depth set by the fall height of the equipment. We do both, and we run a Play Check on the finished area. See playground equipment and soft fall rubber.

It gets warmer than natural lawn in direct sun, the same as paving or decking does. Shade, a light spray with the hose, and the right infill all bring it down. We have written up what actually works in tips to keep artificial grass cooler.

Far less than a lawn, but not none. Brush the pile up every few months in the busy areas, hose it when it is dusty, and pick up leaves before they break down into the pile. The full routine is on care and maintenance.

Hose for dust and pollen, warm soapy water and a soft brush for spills, and a stiff brush against the pile to lift it where it has been walked flat. No. Turf is plastic, and radiant heat will melt the pile long before anything catches. Put a paver, a hearth or a proper mat under anything that gets hot, and keep a fire pit off the grass entirely.

Weeds cannot grow through the turf, but airborne seed can settle in the infill at the edges and sprout from the top. A weed mat under the base stops it from below, and the occasional pull or a spot treatment handles the rest.

Yes. Because it is laid in sheets with joins, a damaged section can be cut out and a matching piece let in. We keep records of what went where, which is why we can usually match a lawn we installed years earlier.
